People living with dementia, their families and carers across Buckinghamshire are set to benefit from additional specialist support as a new Admiral Nurse is recruited to work within the Dementia Support Bucks service.
The new two-year role, funded by Dementia UK, will be delivered through a partnership between Age UK Buckinghamshire, Dementia UK and Buckinghamshire Council.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses who provide expert advice, practical support and guidance to people living with dementia, as well as their families and the professionals who care for them.
The new post will help strengthen dementia support services across Buckinghamshire by sharing best practice, encouraging innovation and supporting the continued development of community-based services.
The importance of local dementia support was highlighted during the Health and Adults Select Committee's review of dementia services, and this new role will further enhance the support available to residents across the county.
