Here in Buckinghamshire, Conservatives are delivering real action on climate change, environmental protection, and cleaner, greener communities, not just with words, but with clear, measurable action.

The Council is driving to reach Net Carbon Zero by 2050—or earlier. Which means investing in cleaner technology, switching the Council fleet to electric vehicles, and exploring how solar energy can be generated on Council land. This isn’t theory, it’s a practical plan for real change.

By making space for nature Buckinghamshire Council have the ambitious goal of planting over 500,000 trees, alongside the creation of a new woodland called Wing Wood. Combined with a new Tree Strategy and Local Nature Recovery Strategy, these projects will boost biodiversity, capture carbon, and protect our countryside for future generations.

Environmental progress is about action on all fronts. Buckinghamshire Council’s waste and recycling services remain among the best in the country, with a 99.89% bin collection success rate across over 615,000 weekly collections. Over 1.2 million visits are made to the County’s Household Recycling Centres each year, and 99% of visitors report being satisfied with the service. Using the Council’s energy-from-waste facility, this generates 25 megawatts of electricity—enough to power 65,000 homes—by turning waste into energy rather than sending it to landfill.

The Council have looked at innovative ways to help support climate-conscious households through initiatives like Energy Doctor, which have already saved £125,000 and 284 tonnes of CO₂ every year—proving that small changes at home can make a big impact.

When it comes to cleaner streets Buckinghamshire Council’s zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping, is taking firm action against offenders helping to make a big difference. In the last year alone:

  • 26 actions taken against fly-tippers
  • 5 successful convictions
  • £29,000 in fines and penalties collected

From tackling flood risk through major infrastructure projects, including securing £10.5 million for flood resilience projects to delivering 1000 EV charging bays by 2027, Buckinghamshire Council are investing in climate resilience at every level.

From greener transport and woodland creation to robust waste enforcement, this Conservative action is not just for today, but for the next generation.
