Families in Aylesbury can now enjoy a fantastic new play area at Whitehill Park, following a major revamp delivered through Buckinghamshire Council’s play area improvement programme. The upgraded facility has been funded through £150,000 of developer contributions, helping transform the park into a modern, inclusive space where children of all ages and abilities can play, explore and socialise.
The new play area includes a large multi-play unit that provides a real “wow factor” for older children, as well as a popular trackway glider which is already proving to be a big hit with young visitors. Younger children have their own dedicated space too, with a café-themed toddler multi-play unit designed especially for early years play. Accessibility has been a key part of the redesign. The park now features inclusive play equipment, including an accessible swing seat, a basket swing and a series of learning panels. Among them is a communication panel designed to encourage interaction between children with different needs, helping ensure the play area can be enjoyed by everyone.
As part of the wider improvements, the site has also been enhanced with a small outdoor gym and additional seating, making Whitehill Park an even better space for families, residents and visitors to spend time outdoors.
Peter Brazier, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture & Leisure, said:
“We’re committed to creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where children can play, learn and thrive. The new play area at Whitehill Park is a fantastic example of how developer contributions can directly benefit the community.
These improvements provide exciting new opportunities for play while making sure the park is accessible to everyone – and I know local families will enjoy the space for many years to come.”
The improvements are part of Buckinghamshire Council’s wider work to upgrade play facilities across the county, ensuring that local parks continue to support healthy, active communities.
