Lord Carrington dies at 99

Lord Carrington, former Aylesbury Conservative Association President has died aged 99. Lord Carrington, a Bledlow resident, was a former defence secretary as well as foreign secretary resigning in 1982. 


David Lidington said, "Very sorry to learn of the death of my constituent Lord Carrington, former Defence and Foreign Secretary & last surviving member of Churchill's post-war govt. His career was given to public service. My deep sympathy to his family. Lord Carrington will also be remembered with fondness by his neighbours in Bledlow."


Association Chairman Bill Chapple OBE said, "It was a great pleasure to know Lord Carrington, he put service before himself and was a man of great principle. He will be sadly missed by so many of our members who will each have their own fond memories of him."
