The Leader of the Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, visited Fleet Marston, near Aylesbury, today to hear directly from farmers and rural communities at an Emergency Food & Farming Summit. Hosted in the heart of Buckinghamshire, the summit brought together local agricultural families, industry representatives, and Mid Buckinghamshire MP Greg Smith to raise the alarm on the growing pressures facing the farming sector.

Kemi made clear this was not about politics, it was about urgent action. She listened closely to concerns about rising energy bills, rural crime, and the financial strain placed on family-run farms, all of which are being made worse by Labour’s damaging policies, including their deeply unpopular Family Farm Tax. A key part of the day was a series of breakout sessions, where farmers and campaigners put forward practical ideas to support the sector over the next 12 months. These proposals will now be taken by Kemi and the Conservative team straight to Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves, with a clear challenge: act now, or stand accused of abandoning rural Britain.

Speaking after the summit, Kemi urged farmers to “keep the pressure on” and promised that the Conservatives will continue to fight for urgent relief and back British farming every step of the way. As food prices rise and rural livelihoods are put at risk, the message from Aylesbury and across Buckinghamshire is loud and clear: protect our countryside, support our farmers, and secure our food future. We will not stand by while Labour undermines the very communities that feed the nation.
