Buckinghamshire Conservatives have welcomed Cllr Dean Field, who represents Wendover, Halton & Stoke Mandeville, to the Conservative Group on Buckinghamshire Council after he took the decision to leave the Liberal Democrats.
Cllr Field made the move after seeing first-hand the commitment and professionalism of Conservative councillors in running a well-managed council focused on residents, delivering high-quality services and providing value for money.
At the recent Buckinghamshire Council budget meeting, Cllr Field supported the council’s budget proposals, recognising the work of the Conservative administration in delivering a balanced budget despite losing £44.5 million in funding following decisions by the Labour Government.
Since being elected, Cllr Field has been an active and committed councillor, working hard for residents in Wendover, Halton and Stoke Mandeville while contributing constructively to council business.
Commenting on his decision, Cllr Dean Field said:
“The residents of Wendover, Halton & Stoke Mandeville elected me to work on their behalf and ensure their concerns are heard.
After careful consideration, I believe joining the Conservative Group will allow me to be more effective in delivering for my residents as part of a strong and experienced team focused on practical results.
I have been particularly impressed by the way the Conservative Leader and Cabinet have managed the council’s finances responsibly, delivering a balanced budget despite significant reductions in government funding. I look forward to working with colleagues across Buckinghamshire Council to ensure we continue delivering the best possible outcomes for our communities.”
Welcoming him to the group, Cllr Steven Broadbent, Leader of the Conservative Group on Buckinghamshire Council, said:
“Dean is a committed councillor who is focused on delivering for his residents. His support for the council’s budget recognises the responsible way that our Conservative-run council has managed the county’s finances, protecting resident priorities with record investment into our roads and keeping weekly bin collections — all despite the Labour Government taking £44.5 million in funding away from Buckinghamshire.
Dean’s record in business, public service and charitable work will be a fantastic addition to the Conservative Group. His move strengthens the Conservative majority on Buckinghamshire Council and reflects the hard work of our administration in delivering for residents.
My Conservative colleagues and I remain committed to enhancing Buckinghamshire as a place to live, work, visit and study, and we welcome those who share our vision for our county.”
