Supporting our Armed Forces in Buckinghamshire

As Chairman of Buckinghamshire County Council, Cllr Marion Clayton was delighted to sign the Armed Forces Community Covenant on behalf of the Council.  The Covenant sets out ways in which the Armed Forces in Buckinghamshire and the statutory and voluntary bodies can work together, bearing in mind the particular pressures which affect service families, and the unique contribution they make to local communities.    

HS2 Legal Challenges agreed by Judge

On the 26th July a judge agreed that the five cases against HS2 will all be heard and has set the date for the hearings. He has agreed that all five claims will be heard together but organised separately. The Transport Secretary Justine Greening will be required to explain the errors that occurred during the consultation by HS2. 

Councillor slams running of Lib Dem Town Council Budget

Cllr Mark Winn, one of the Conservative Cllrs for Bedgrove, last night at an Aylesbury Town Council meeting attacked the fact that the Liberal Democrat controlled Town Council are currently running a council tax budget with reserves of 65%. Out of a budget of £985,201 there is £638,457 in the reserves.  

Olympic Torch in Aylesbury

Today saw the Olympic Torch relay pass through Aylesbury, cheered on by thousands of people all along the route from Buckingham Street to Mandeville School. 

Tunnel Vision

Mandeville & Elm Farm Councillors Sue Chapple, Brian Roberts & Brian Tyndall teamed up with PCSO Sarah Turner, Simon Garwood of Aylesbury Youth Action, Kent House (Brain Injury Trust), local residents and fantastic artist and Mandeville resident Sarah Rees to transform a dingy, graffiti covered underpass into something our community can be proud of. They showed how people within a community coming together can make a huge difference to where they live. 

Watermead Celebrates

Cllr Alan Ward celebrated the Diamond Jubilee at the family fun day and concert in Watermead with hundreds of residents from Watermead and Elmhurst.
