Residents who use Aylesbury Household Recycling Centre are being advised of an upcoming temporary closure to allow essential drainage improvement works to be carried out. The recycling centre will close from Wednesday 2 September 2026, with the last day for residents to use the site being Tuesday 1 September. Buckinghamshire Council expects the site to reopen before the end of December 2026.
The council says the drainage improvements are needed to ensure the site remains legally compliant and can continue operating in the future. Because of the scale of the works, the site must be completely emptied and cannot remain partially open while construction is underway. During the closure, residents are encouraged to use Aston Clinton Household Recycling Centre, which is open seven days a week. Staff from the Aylesbury site will also be temporarily transferred there to help support the expected increase in visitors.
Buckinghamshire Council is encouraging anyone planning larger household, garden or DIY projects that may require a trip to the recycling centre to consider bringing these forward before the closure begins where possible.
